For dairy-free lambs, a special feed mixture can be prepared using fresh eggs, cod liver oil, and salt. This mixture is combined with boiled water to create a nutritious and easily digestible meal. For young lambs, this formula can be mixed with milk for even better results. The specific preparation method is as follows: one fresh egg, 4 ml of cod liver oil (or one capsule), 2 grams of salt, and 100 ml of boiling water. Mix the egg, cod liver oil, and salt in a cup, then add the boiling water and stir well until the temperature drops to 38°C to 40°C. At this point, it’s ready to feed the lambs.
Lambs born within the first 7 days should be fed 4 to 6 times daily, with each feeding being 50 ml. Alternatively, the total daily intake should be about 1/5 to 1/4 of their birth weight, and this amount should gradually increase each day. By the 8th day, the quantity can be increased to 0.8 to 1.0 kg per day. As the lambs grow, they should start being introduced to solid food around day 15, and the amount of cod liver oil can be slowly reduced. After one month, the feed volume can be gradually decreased while increasing the proportion of forage-based feed to support their development. This approach ensures that lambs receive balanced nutrition while transitioning smoothly from liquid to solid diets.
