On the last day of feeding, an intramuscular injection of 400–750 IU of PMSG is administered to induce estrus. (6) Prostaglandin infusion is a quick way to induce estrus. It can be administered either directly into the uterus or via intramuscular injection, causing the ewes to come into heat within 2–3 days. This method is especially useful for synchronizing estrus in large flocks. Second, superovulation is performed by injecting pregnant mare serum gonadotropin (PMSG) 600–1100 IU into adult ewes during the first 4 days of their estrous cycle—typically around day 12 or 13. After estrus, a second injection of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) at 500–750 IU is given, leading to the release of multiple eggs, sometimes even more than 10. Third, induced twin births can be achieved through hormonal treatments. For example, using water- or oil-based additives, such as double-lamb or digester products, can increase the chances of twins or multiple births. If using water-based products, a 1 ml subcutaneous injection is given in the neck 5 weeks and 2 weeks before breeding. For oil-based products, a 2 ml intramuscular injection is administered 2 weeks before the breeding season begins. These methods are widely used to boost lambing rates and improve productivity.
