In order to foster a positive social environment for safe drug use, promote public awareness of medication safety, and enhance people's understanding of responsible drug consumption, the Fogang County Food and Drug Administration in Guangdong Province has continuously innovated its regulatory methods. They launched the "Drug Safety into Campus" campaign, aiming to instill a sense of responsibility and awareness of safe drug use from an early age. Guided by the important thoughts of the "Three Represents" and the "17th National Congress," the campaign actively implements the concept of scientific development, focusing on education and outreach among students.
The initiative aims to build a "safe campus" by conducting activities in primary and secondary schools throughout the county. These efforts have received strong public support and have made a meaningful impact on the community. The main focus of the campaign is on education and awareness. On school campuses, banners promoting safe medicine and rational drug use are displayed, and blackboard newspapers with related content are created. Posters are also put up to reinforce the message and raise student awareness about medication safety.
As of early September, the bureau's staff had visited five schools in the county to conduct educational campaigns. Over 3,000 copies of promotional materials were distributed, and five reports on drug safety were produced. In addition to these efforts, the bureau invited experienced doctors to give special lectures at schools, educating students about the dangers of drug abuse, particularly the misuse of tramadol preparations and oral solutions containing codeine. These sessions helped students understand the risks associated with drug abuse and encouraged them to develop healthy habits regarding medication use and to resist the influence of drugs.
According to statistics, there were five special lectures held, attended by over 3,000 students. This comprehensive approach not only improves knowledge but also fosters a culture of safety and responsibility around drug use, ensuring that young people grow up with a clear understanding of the importance of safe and proper medication practices.
