Fertilizers are essential for providing necessary nutrients to cotton plants. In addition to using microbial fertilizers to supply nutrients, it is equally important to enhance the beneficial microbial population in the root zone of the soil. This helps improve the soil's microbial composition, optimize its physical, biological, and chemical properties, and create a more favorable environment for plant growth. By doing so, soil fertility is significantly enhanced, which supports healthier and more productive cotton crops. Microbial fertilizers are commonly used during different stages of cotton growth, including seedling preparation, base fertilization, and top-dressing.
For seedling production, a method called transplanting is often employed. When preparing the nutrient soil for seedlings, 5 kg of bio-organic fertilizer can be added per cubic meter of soil. This not only promotes strong and healthy seedlings but also helps prevent diseases, giving the plants a better start.
In the field, basal fertilization plays a key role in maintaining long-term soil fertility. For example, 50 acres of land can be treated with 50 kg of bio-organic fertilizer as a base application. This provides a steady release of nutrients throughout the growing season.
During the boll formation stage, 20–25 kg of a black and white biological fertilizer is recommended as a top-dressing. In areas with poor soil texture or low fertility, the amount of fertilizer should be increased accordingly. Additionally, during the mid to late growth stages, a mixture can be prepared by combining 1 kg of microbial agent with 20 liters of water. After stirring and letting it sit for an hour, the supernatant can be mixed with zinc and boron fertilizers and sprayed onto the leaves. This practice enhances plant vitality, strengthens resistance to stress, and reduces the occurrence of yellow wilt disease.
