Common diseases of lamb

Overeating

Lamb overfeeding disease, type D enterotoxemia, is more common in lambs fed more than one month of age and fed concentrates. When the feed is changed quickly, or when feeding the concentrate feed, the lambs have a fast onset and often die without symptoms. When symptomatic, the diseased sheep showed depression, bruxism and convulsions.

treatment:

1 The ewes were injected 2 times between 15 and 30 days before delivery, and the interval was not less than 2 weeks.

2 Lambs were injected once at 28 days of age and once at 42 days of age to enter feeding fattening, and once again at 90 days of age.

3 In the group of unvaccinated lambs, the entire group should be immediately injected in case of occurrence. Note that 10 to 15 days after the injection can be immunized. At this time, concentrate feeds should be stopped and feed antibiotics should be added to the diet.

White muscle disease

White muscle disease of lamb is a disease in which the myocardium and bones are deformed due to muscular dystrophy. Symptoms are stiff hind legs, arched backs, and sometimes lying down, and there is still a desire to breastfeed or eat. White muscle disease can be suspected in the following conditions in lambs: 1 The sick lamb has a history of limb rigidity. 2 Several lambs in the same group exhibit the above symptoms at the same time. 3 Lambs that have been eating hen's milk fed Chen hay are more sensitive to the disease. Treatment: 1 after injection of selenium and vitamin E mixture, vitamin E may still be missing, but no lack of selenium, should be injected 200 to 400 international units of vitamin E. Repeated selenium injections may cause acute selenium poisoning, resulting in the rapid death of the lamb. Symptoms are similar to white muscle disease before death. 2 oral vitamin E. Add vitamin E to your drinking water or feed. Before 40 days of age, lambs use 125,000 international units for 1 ton of feed, 80,000 international units for 40 to 80 days, and 4,000 international units for 80 to 120 days. Supplemental selenium can also be injected, added to the feed and fed. In winter and spring, there are cold and windy facilities. Ewes should prevent chronic nasal infection before delivery.

Respiratory disease

Lambs of both size and size are predisposed to the disease. Lambs have the most upper respiratory tract (nose) infections, but they are not serious. Severe cases may be fatal.

Treatment: Pay attention to environmental hygiene, avoid overcrowding, and ensure that lambs eat colostrum early after birth. Lamb room air circulation, winter and spring cold wind facilities. Ewes should prevent chronic infection of the nose before delivery in order to cut off the route of transmission when lambs are delivered to the ewes.
