Peanut's Absorption and Distribution of Calcium

Peanuts are hi calcium crops. Calcium mainly accumulates in the vegetative organs, with 3.4% to 3.8% in leaves, 1.6% to 1.8% in stems, 0.25% to 0.54% in pods, and 0.1% to 0.2% in seeds. Although there are few calcium in reproductive organs, calcium plays a very important role in the development of capsules and seeds. When calcium deficiency occurs in the fruit, if the fruit is small, the seed development is hindered, and the empty fruit, such as the hypertrophy of the shell, the abortion of the seed or the loss of the skin, is formed. In some cases, although the seeds are normal in appearance, the germs are necrotic and become black embryos. Calcium deficiency also leads to loose husk tissue and is prone to rot. The critical soil calcium content required for general common large peanuts results in 250 mg/kg for the soil, 120 mg/kg for common small peanuts, and lower for the small-peanut type.

Calcium and potassium, magnesium have a scorpion effect. In addition, high calcium in the soil will also affect the effectiveness of manganese, iron, zinc and other elements. Therefore, calcium should not be too high, the replacement of calcium in the soil between 0.14% to 0.25% is appropriate.
