The amount of rice consumed may be associated with the risk of diabetes in women.

A survey of 60,000 volunteers by institutions such as the National Cancer Research Center showed that women who ate more than 3 bowls of rice a day (ordinary rice bowl) may increase their risk of developing diabetes.
The researchers conducted a five-year follow-up survey of approximately 60,000 residents in eight counties including Iwate, Nagano, Ibaraki, and Okinawa. These respondents were between the ages of 45 and 74. During the survey, a total of 625 men and 478 women developed diabetes.
The researchers analyzed the relationship between the amount of rice consumed and the risk of developing diabetes. They found that the risk of developing diabetes in women who consumed 3 small bowls of rice a day was about 1.48 times that of women who consumed 1 small bowl of rice a day, while the risk of women who ate more than 4 bowls increased to 1.65 times. However, there is no significant association between the amount of meals and the risk of developing diabetes for women who are engaged in manual labor and more than one hour of exercise a day.
The analysis also showed that men who did not exercise had an increased risk of developing diabetes, and the association between the amount of rice consumed by men and the risk of developing diabetes was less than that of women.
A large intake of carbohydrates increases the risk of diabetes, which is known to many people. The researchers said that as long as a reasonable diet, coupled with moderate exercise, can reduce the risk of diabetes.
