Postharvest disease does not require pesticides

China is a big country for the production and sale of fruits. However, fruit rot has been serious. The annual loss of fruits caused by decay has reached 30 billion yuan. It is understood that the production of fruit trees is far from the city, and the mature fruit of similar fruits is also relatively concentrated, which brings the contradiction between supply and demand in the market. Therefore, it needs a certain period of storage and transportation to alleviate this market demand. However, the problem of dehydration, atrophy, and rot that occurred during the post-harvest period of a large number of harvested fruits was quite serious. In developed countries, 10% to 20% of fresh fruit is lost to post-harvest rot; in developing countries, where storage and refrigeration equipment are lacking, the rate of corruption is as high as 40% to 50%. The traditional method of controlling post-harvest diseases of fruit fruits is the use of chemical pesticides. However, the long-term use of chemical agents has led to the emergence of resistance to many pathogenic bacteria, which has led to a decrease in the preventive effect of chemical pesticides, and the use concentration has been increasing year by year. At the same time, the use of high concentrations of pesticides not only pollutes the environment, but excessive residue on the surface of the fruit also threatens human health. The Institute of Botany of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has taken the lead in the international development of biotechnology and mechanism research on the control of postharvest diseases of fruits. After nearly 5 years of research, a set of technical systems for the isolation, screening, and Application of antagonistic bacteria was established, and bioantagonistic bacteria that significantly inhibited the main diseases of apples, pears, and peaches were obtained. The research results related to this project have applied for four national invention patents so that our research in this field has reached the international advanced level. It is understood that the industrialization and marketization of this new biological preparation for fruit and vegetable preservation can effectively prevent post-harvest decay of agricultural and forestry products and achieve the purpose of quality and quantity; on the other hand, its environmental protection, non-toxic and harmless characteristics will open up. China's agriculture and forestry industry has entered the "green barriers" in the international market.
