c. Gas management. Gas requirements O2 1.0%-2.5%, CO2 5.0%-7.0%. In the silicon window bag, with the extension of the storage time, garlic bulbs continuously increased the CO2 concentration in the bag due to respiration, and the O2 concentration decreased continuously. The CO2 concentration peaked about 10 days after storage, and the O2 concentration valley appeared around 15 days after storage. Then CO2 decreased slightly and O2 increased slightly. During the 7-month storage period, the CO2 and O2 concentrations were basically stable. This is the fundamental guarantee for the high quality of cold preservation and low loss of natural garlic. Therefore, management must adopt the O2 lower limit or set the CO2 high limit approach to avoid low O2 and high CO2 damage. Practice shows that O2 1.5%-2.5%, CO2 5.5%-6.5%, its storage and preservation effect is very good. Long-term CO2 above 7.0% is prone to CO2 gas damage. This indicator requires that the polyethylene bag storage method is much lower, indicating that the silicon window bag storage is mainly used for preservation and inhibition of microbial respiration, mainly CO2, and the polyethylene bag storage method is mainly O2 for inhibiting respiration, so in terms of gas management It is required that the polyethylene bag storage method be centered on O2 control, and it should be transferred to a management strategy centered on CO2 control and supplemented by low O2 regulation.
Precautions:
(a) The law has higher quality requirements for garlic sprouts. Because the window bags do not open for a long period of time, the high-humidity environment inside the bags will increase the amount of mildew. Therefore, only good storage quality garlic sprouts can achieve better preservation effect; otherwise, the storage and preservation effect is not as good as polyethylene. Bags are good for storage.
